Dr. Hsin Shih-Chang
Professor Hsin Shih-Chang holds a PhD from the Instructional Systems Technology program at Indiana University in the United States. He is currently a professor at the International Inter-college Doctoral Program at National Tsing Hua University (Taiwan). He previously served as the President of the Association of Teaching Chinese as a Second Language in Taiwan. He has contributed thirty years to the training of Chinese instructors and the development of teaching materials.

Dr. Siu-lun Lee
Dr. Siu-lun Lee is an award-winning educator specializing in language education, with a distinguished focus on Cantonese as a second language. He holds a Doctorate in Applied Linguistics from the University of Leicester (United Kingdom), and currently serves as Principal Lecturer at The Chinese University of Hong Kong.
Recognized as a leading expert in Cantonese education, Dr. Lee has made significant scholarly contributions to the field. His recent publications include the comprehensive series Modern Cantonese (Volumes 1–3, Routledge, 2023) and the seminal work The Learning and Teaching of Cantonese as a Second Language (Routledge, 2023), both of which have advanced pedagogical approaches and curriculum development for Cantonese learners worldwide.

Jason Hsueh
Jason Hsueh holds a Master’s degree in Communication Engineering from National Taiwan University and a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Chung Yuan Christian University. He brings over 20 years of international experience in electronic product development and technical program management, having served in leadership roles at Google, Dell Technologies, MediaTek, Avid, and Nokia. Currently a Technical Program Manager at Google in Taipei, Jason specializes in guiding cross-functional teams to deliver innovative products across mobile, notebook, and video conferencing platforms. His career highlights include serving as Senior Principal Product Development Manager and Technical Leader at Dell Technologies, and Customer Program Manager at MediaTek, where he aligned product strategy with customer needs and global market trends. As a consultant at Global Mandarin Academy, Jason contributes his expertise in cross-company collaboration, customer relations, and end-to-end product lifecycle management. His award-winning leadership in launching high-impact products reflects the Academy’s mission to integrate technical excellence with global communication and interdisciplinary learning. Jason’s work exemplifies innovative leadership, problem-solving, and a dedication to advancing industry progress—qualities he now channels into supporting the Academy’s vision of bridging technology, language, and cultural understanding.

Associate Professor
Dr. Claire Rodan
Dr. Claire Rodan is an interdisciplinary scholar specializing in comparative literature, media and memory studies, and bilingual pedagogical innovation. Her work bridges American Studies, Asian and Asian American Studies, international relations, and the emerging field of artificial intelligence in education design and policy.
Dr. Rodan earned her PhD in Comparative Literature from Indiana University Bloomington, with a minor in Communication & Cultural Studies (Film Theory) and Literary Theory. She also holds a certificate in International Relations and Affairs from Johns Hopkins University’s School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), as well as a BA and MA in English Literature from Fu Jen Catholic University in Taiwan.
Her scholarship has been published widely with prestigious academic presses, including Cambridge Scholars Publishing, Routledge, Brill, and Lexington Books. Her peer-reviewed articles appear in internationally recognized journals such as Interface: Journal of European Languages and Literatures, Monde Chinois, a/b: Auto/Biography Studies, English and American Literature Association Journal, and Southeast Review of Asian Studies.
Dr. Rodan has held academic appointments at distinguished institutions, including the University of Maryland, College Park; the Elliott School of International Affairs at The George Washington University; the Defense Language Institute; and Indiana University Bloomington.
In addition to her academic scholarship, Dr. Rodan is an accomplished literary author, columnist, and artist. She is the author of Memory Zero Celsius (《記憶零度C》) and To the One in Alaska (ã€Šå¯«çµ¦é˜¿æ‹‰æ–¯åŠ çš„ã€‹), and a regular contributor to World Journal (Chicago) and Washington Chinese Daily News. Her forthcoming works include The Art of War, The Thirty-Six Stratagems, and a comprehensive Mandarin Chinese textbook series developed for Global Mandarin Academy.
Professor
Dr. Wendy Shiau
Dr. Wendy Shiau is a distinguished scientist and educator specializing in hearing and speech science, audiology, and communication disorders. She holds a PhD and an MA from the University of Cincinnati and has held faculty appointments at prestigious institutions including the University of Maryland, the University of Alabama, and Southeastern Louisiana University, as well as National Hsinchu University and National Kaohsiung Normal University in Taiwan.
In addition to her academic career, Dr. Shiau founded a free clinic serving minority communities in Montgomery County, Maryland, and served as President of an audiological clinic in Maryland prior to her retirement—demonstrating a long-standing commitment to community service, healthcare leadership, and equity. She has also worked as a freelance Chinese instructor for the Defense Language Institute, extending her expertise into language education and cross-cultural training.
At Global Mandarin Academy, Dr. Shiau integrates medical humanities, healthcare topics, and Chinese culture into her teaching. She also teaches Chinese brush painting and calligraphy, bringing creativity, cultural depth, and interdisciplinary insight to the learning experience.
Associate Professor
Dr. Yao-Yu Chih
Dr. Yao-Yu Chih earned his Ph.D. in Economics from Indiana University Bloomington in 2013, specializing in urban economics, regional science, and spatial econometrics.
He is an Associate Professor of Economics at the McCoy College of Business, Texas State University. His expertise in economic analysis and financial strategy plays a vital role in strengthening the academy’s financial health and institutional development.
As an Associate Editor for the Annals of Regional Science, Dr. Chih has published extensively in leading academic journals, including the Journal of Human Capital, Energy Economics, Regional Science and Urban Economics, Oxford Economic Papers, and Computational Statistics and Data Analysis.
Associate Professor
Dr. Hugo Lee
Dr. Hugo Yu-Hsiu Lee is an award-winning researcher with extensive academic and international experience. He holds an M.Sc. and Ph.D. from Indiana University Bloomington, U.S.A., and has conducted research at both Indiana University Bloomington and the National Institute of Development Administration in Bangkok, Thailand. His expertise extends to reformed theology, with studies at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky, and the Reformed Theological Seminary in Taipei, Taiwan. Dr. Lee has served as a United Nations Learning Team Member at the United Nations Learning Centre in Bangkok, where he taught Chinese to UN personnel. Additionally, he played a key role as the chief organizer of Harvard University’s Harvard College for Asia Program conference, held at the United Nations Conference Center in 2019. His contributions to academia have been recognized through prestigious awards, including the Distinguished Harste Alternative Literacies Fellowship and the Ruth Strickland Memorial Fund Scholarship from the Indiana University School of Education.

Karina Chen
Ms. Karina Chen holds an M.A. in Women’s Studies from the University at Albany, New York, and a B.A. in English Language and Literature from Fu Jen Catholic University in Taiwan. She also pursued post-graduate studies in Asian Studies at the University of Texas at Austin.
Since 2017, Ms. Chen has been a dedicated Chinese language instructor at the School of Advanced International Studies at Johns Hopkins University. With over 15 years of experience in language education, she specializes in tailored language training and curriculum design for professionals. She has also taught at esteemed institutions such as the University of Pennsylvania and Georgetown University.
Ms. Chen has co-authored three Chinese language textbooks with current and former colleagues. Her beginning-level textbook, Speak and Act: Beginning Chinese (two volumes), emphasizes language functionality while systematically developing grammatical foundations. Her intermediate-level textbook, A Visit to America: Practical Chinese for International Studies, equips learners with practical vocabulary and sentence patterns relevant to international affairs.

Dr. Lu Han
Dr. Lu Han holds a Ph.D. in Applied Linguistics from Temple University, an M.S.Ed. in TESOL from the University of Pennsylvania, and a certificate in Instructional Design Foundations and Applications from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. With eight years of experience teaching Mandarin Chinese to adult learners at various proficiency levels—ranging from beginners to advanced speakers—she has taught in both higher education and government settings.
Her students praise her profound understanding of the unique challenges English speakers encounter when learning Chinese and her adeptness in addressing these challenges effectively. Dr. Han's teaching style is both interactive and engaging, ensuring that the learning experience is both enjoyable and enriching. Her areas of expertise include applied linguistics, instructional design, TESOL, and Mandarin Chinese instruction.

Wesley Chen
Wesley Chen holds an MBA with a concentration in Finance and Marketing from Rutgers University and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Tamkang University, Taiwan.
With a diverse background in financial analysis, digital marketing, and real estate, Wesley has worked with prominent companies such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google, and Soartek Co., Ltd. He has held key roles, including Project Manager, Senior Digital Marketing Manager, and Real Estate Consultant, gaining extensive experience in business consulting, financial forecasting, and market analysis. His expertise in data-driven decision-making, competitive analysis, and strategic financial planning has been instrumental in driving business success.
